Monday, 30. August 2010 14:56

While celebrating his 21st birthday, Bay Club member Peter Uihlein won the 110th U.S. Amateur 4 and 2 over David Chung Sunday afternoon . Uihlein was leading the match play event by two after the first 18 holes on Sunday morning, and claimed the event on the 34th hole when Chung’s tee shot landed into the deep, fescue grass. This first major championship win for Peter Uihlein, considered one of the top young players in the world for many years, solidifies his Number 1 ranking in the world by the Royal & Ancient.
Uihlein’s victory coincides with the announcement by the USGA that he and David Chung (along with NCAA champion Scott Langley) will represent the U.S. in October at the 2010 U.S. World Amateur Team Championship in Buenos Aires Golf Club in Argentina.
The Bay Club at Mattapoisett is thrilled for Peter and his family. Our sincere congratulations and best wishes for your continued success! And Happy Birthday!

Bay Club Head Professional, Greg Yeomans recently shot 1 over to capture the Cape Cod Pro Am held at the Golf Club of Cape Cod in East Falmouth, MA. Yeomans teamed up with bay Club members Ron Dias, John O’Connor and Dick Reilly finishing 13 under par to place 2nd in the Best Ball of the Foursome Net event.
Congratulations to Peter Uihlein!
Peter Uihlein continued his strong consistent play by claiming individual medalist honors in the just completed 2010 NCAA Southeast Regional. Peter fired rounds of 68-70-68 for a four under total on the very challenging Crabapple Course of the Capital City Club in Georgia. The team score is based on the best four of five scores from each team and the Cowboys won that title by a slim two shots over Clemson. Stay tuned as the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Peter Uihlein take a run at the NCAA Championships at the Honors Course in Tennessee from June 1 through June 6.
